We’re thrilled to introduce our March Client of the Month: Gilbert!


Gilbert is without a doubt one of our most dedicated members. He attends an in-person class each week and commits to five additional days of Pilates at home using our online channel. His consistency, and enthusiasm make him a worthy recipient of this recognition.


Commitment & Routine

So, what keeps Gilbert motivated? According to him, it’s the weekly personal contact and banter that make all the difference. He loves the variety of online classes, rotating them to keep things interesting. His daily routine is structured, too—after breakfast, emails, and reading, he fits in Pilates around 10 a.m., ensuring his body is ready for movement before lunch.


When asked about his favourite instructor, Gilbert diplomatically (and wisely!) responded, “Now girls, I like you all… but perhaps you, Andrea.” He also enjoys the lighthearted atmosphere of our Pilates community, where the conversations are just as important as the exercises.


The Benefits of Pilates

Pilates has played a huge role in managing Gilbert’s lifelong low back pain. He recalls being plagued by sharp, random pains—now, they’re gone. While he acknowledges that some aches remain, he feels more flexible now than he has since his 20s.

He’s also noticed an improvement in his overall mobility and suppleness, saying he feels younger than when he retired 12 years ago—though, as he puts it, “that’s starting to wear off a bit lately!” He still works on his balance and posture (his wife keeps him accountable there!), but he appreciates how Pilates helps him stay active and enjoy life—right alongside his beloved recliner and books.


Words of Wisdom

Gilbert first turned to Pilates for as an alternative to unstructured, boring exercises. He has found it to be fun, improved his mobility, and given him a sense of purpose. His advice for anyone in their 70s considering starting?

“Start easy. Don’t push yourself up the stages until you want to. Don’t be afraid to go back a bit now and then. Enjoy it, and you’ll be persistent—which is more important. And most of all, enjoy the craic!”
